Members’ Art Show – 2011
The date for the Members’ Art Show is December 5, 2011, through January 31, 2011, at the Morristown-Hamblen Library. Entries will be accepted on Monday, December 5, 9 a.m. to noon. GUIDELINES Eligibility
Any member whose membership dues are current and paid by December 1, 2011, is eligible to submit an entry and to cast a vote.
Entry Requirements
· Must be a current member of MAA. · Artwork submitted may have been created at any time. · Two entries may be submitted (identify the preferred piece as No. 1). · Size must be no larger than 42 inches on any side (including frame) and smaller is preferred. · All works must be the original work of the entering artist. Copies of materials, prints, published photographs, or giclee’ prints are not considered originals. · Computer-generated art may be submitted. · Artistic photography may be submitted. · Smaller pieces of work, such as bead art, wood bowls, and miniatures may be submitted for the showcase. · Size and number of pieces entered and displayed will depend on committee recommendations and space allowance. · The work must be presented appropriately and ready for display and hanging. · Entries must be allowed to hang for the duration of the show and picked up on the date indicated. · Artwork may be for sale or identified not for sale. Twenty (20) percent of the price of the artwork sold from the show will go to MAA; price your work accordingly. · The committee reserves the right to reject any piece of art. · Each piece of work will need to be identified as follows: o A 3- by 5-inch index card should be attached to the lower, left, front corner of a painting or to the side/bottom of another type of artwork. o Each label will be numbered by the Committee for voting purposes. o The label should include the following information: ▪ Title of Work ▪ Medium ▪ Name of Artist ▪ Address ▪ Phone Number Price or NFS Example of Label
▪ Must be a current member of MAA to vote. A member does not need to have an entry in the show to cast a vote. ▪ Voting is by email to bravio@charter.com; those without email will be mailed a ballot. Mail ballots will be sent to Jim Palmer at his address shown on the ballot. ▪ If any member votes for his/her own entry, the vote will be discarded and not counted. ▪ The deadline for voting is December 31, 2011. The vote must be received on this day by email or USPS mail. ▪ Jim Palmer and Members’ Show Chairman will tally the votes by computer. ▪ The voting is for first, second, and third place. The value assigned to each vote is: o 1st Place -- 5 o 2nd Place -- 3 o 3rd Place -- 1 o Once the winners are determined, First, Second, and Third Place Ribbons will be placed on the winning pieces at the Library. The winners will be announced at the January meeting. o The printout showing votes will be available at the January meeting. All votes are kept confidential, except to those tallying the votes.
Liability
The Morristown Art Association and the Morristown-Hamblen Library will take every precaution and care with entries but cannot be responsible for loss or damage. The artist assumes full responsibility for his or her entries. The Morristown Art Association and the Morristown-Hamblen Library are not responsible for works unclaimed after the show or not picked up on the date announced. The artist has the responsibility for delivery and pick up. Members presenting entries will need to sign the “General Artist Display Agreement” provided by the Library.

The Members’ Show will be displayed following the Library Guidelines. |
