Arts In The Park is a visual and performing arts event on Saturday, September 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Park located at 350 West Ninth North Street, Morristown.   Morristown Art Association Members will show, sell, and demonstrate 2-dimensional fine art and sculpture.  The performing arts include music, theatre, and dance performed by local groups.  Terry Chandler, a regional landscape artist from Knoxville, is the Guest Artist.  Attendees may participate in art activities, take an Art History Walk to learn about art and artists, and participate in a drawing for a Terry Chandler painting.  The event will include clowns, rovers, children’s art activities, as well as a playground at the park.  Food will be available for purchase.  Admission is FREE.   Arts In The Park is an annual event of the Morristown Art Association, Rose Center, and Morristown Parks and Recreation.  For additional information, contact Peggy Brewer, 423-312-8325 or Jennifer Gentry at 423-586-0260.

Arts In The Park grew out of a partnership formed between the Morristown Art Association and the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department during the Recreation and Arts Roundtables in the ongoing Positive Youth Development Campaign by the Hamblen County P-16 Council.  The goal was to make this an event for the Hamblen County area to showcase Morristown Art Association artists’ work and the new park.  Rose Center and the Council for the Arts is also a sponsor of Arts In The Park.  The first Arts In The Park event was held in September 2007.
